Cheerleaders

For the first time in the history of world Sari-clad cheerleaders will perform in a cricket match.

"The girls will not wear short skirts as has been done in many other places because it would be against our culture and tradition. Our audience will not accept it. They will have modest traditional attire. They will be dressed as per our tradition and culture.", Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Ashirbad Behera told IANS.

Seems like cheer leading is in favor of their acclaimed culture and tradition but 'cheer leading with short skirts' is not. I wonder what he has to say to bikini clad swimmers. If he had his way, Indian women will have to wear sari in swimming events of Olympics.

And what if a cheerleader with sari has to perform this act?

I can totally imagine an Oriya girls lifting her sari up to do the trick.

Pride and Prejudice

I just was about to write a post on recent celebrations for "victory of India" (Slumdog Millionaire sweep of Oscars). But someone already has caught the essence - "That foreigner's neologism (“slumdog” doesn't exist in real parlance in India, although gali ka kutta, or alley-dog, comes close) is thought to heap more shame on the land than the slums themselves. And yet when that same film, with that same neo-imperialist title, is fêted by tuxedoed Americans at an awards ceremony watched across the globe, Indians burst with pride."

But as response of media was more or less expected, Indian government also wants the piece of pie. This is simply incredible - "India’s ruling Congress party is seeking to capitalise on Slumdog Millionaire’s Oscar victory"

And here is something for bloggers to worry about - Bloggers can be nailed for views

Dialogue and Reason

Here are two pieces of conversations on blogs which are very thought provoking and therefore I decided to share these.

First one is the my dialogue with Atanu Dey in his post of Open Thread
Sukesh:
I almost regularly read your blog and deeply influenced by the reasoning and arguments you present.
But a negative trait is coming out. I find myself unable to reason beyond your arguments. I feel that my faith towards your reasoning is obstructing me to go beyond the scope and find more arguments or counter-arguments. That makes me paranoid.
Maybe it is because of my understandable limitation of knowledge of the field.
Can you tell me any solution so that I can think from scratch with a new perspective?
Atanu Dey:
Reasoning independently is simple if you take care to build from the basics. Nothing that is not consonant with how you perceive the world can make sense to you. So I would not worry if I find myself in agreement with someone whose premises I agree with.
The only, and most important caution, is that you should be totally skeptical of all claims of authority. As the Buddha said, if it does not accord with your reason, reject it.

I agree.

Second one is my dialogue with Vinod Sharma in his post Gauranga Baba
Sukesh:
Before finding answer for "why did I leave him", I suggest you first find answer to "why I followed him" in the first place.
Then you should think of what is the difference between 'following' and 'in agreement'. I mean the difference between "why one 'follows' someone" and "why one is 'convinced' by someone and yet remains skeptical".
Vinod Sharma:
You are very young but have a head beyond your years.

I am flattered.

The Violent Poise

It was the time when my senses were engaged in doing the terrible task of fabricating non-sense vagaries. While stealing defeats time and again from jaws of victory I did not realise that I had come to a lonely place full of people. These are the people who happen to be entities of same category of species that I am. But why do I don’t have a bit of ado about them is a perplexing phenomenon that haunts my cells in neural space.

These cells are engaged in a complex process of sustaining life in hostile environment bounded by complex realities and perspectives generated by the complex processes we do at every moment that passes by. The choices we make for ourselves reflect themselves at large in an apparently invisible manner upon the very dynamics of our environment which precisely had us made choices in the first place. The chaos that are underneath this blanket of equilibrium disillusion even an extra ordinary eye but the fact remains that the calm composed sea exhibits its true nature only when tide comes.
The composure of the aggressive nature of human being to be the best continues through eternity which brought me to a shore where I could see nothing but the waves that flooded my soul with blood.

I could see my vision and it struck me like a thought. The thought was an eternity in itself, tempting to the point that one could immerse himself in his own.
Now I know everything is vanity, the vanity itself is.
